Imagine a stage where the Internet of Things (IoT) and Innovation, along with creativity joins together. An exhibition of Modern and Innovative ICT and Entrepreneurial Business Projects. Meet Cutting Edge 2017. This is a showcase of the projects that were researched and developed by the students of Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) following the respective BSc. programs at University of Westminster (UOW). This annual exhibition will take place on the 29th and 30th of June 2017, at BMICH from 08.00 am to 7.00 pm.
Cutting Edge: What Is It all About?
Informatics Institute of Technology (IIT) is a pioneer in introducing British Degrees right here in Sri Lanka. So far, they have produced over 3000 alumni, from which most of them are distinguished personalities in multi-business fields both local as well as international. This group of alumni is well known for their State-of-the-art and entrepreneurial characteristics which, as we all know, tends to keep altering the community or rather the society in which we live in. In the previous years, this exhibition took place at the IIT campus premises. But starting this year, the exhibition will kick off at the BMICH, in order to cater to the huge crowd that’s expected to attend Cutting Edge 2017.
The exhibition showcases various talents that these one-time students can offer; this opportunity given to them is where they display the knowledge imparted on them during all those long lecture and tutorial hours. For the past 15 years students have been encouraged to explore a creative solution for real-world situations and thus they will be presenting both IT and Business projects which have been thoroughly researched on and developed solely by them.
IOT Meets Young Entrepreneurs
It’s expected that over 4000 people will be attending this event; students, parents, alumni, corporate suits, Industry leaders as well as the general public look forward to Cutting Edge 2017 in order to experience first-hand the latest innovations created by these students. This time around, the theme of the exhibition will be focused mainly on projects with regard to IoT combined with Entrepreneurial Business and there will be over 120 projects showcased.
The program on both days will include seminars for students on topics such as; Internet of Things and Entrepreneurship, there will also be awareness programs regarding Sri Lanka CERT (National Center for Cyber Security) and also a live webcast with IFM radio station.
